EFT was originally developed to reduce the therapy process from months/years down to minutes/hours. As emotional problems faded, both physical health and personal performance improved (often dramatically). As a result, EFT is spreading quickly among the healing community. It is an emotional version of acupressure wherein certain meridian release points are gently stimulated by tapping on them with the fingertips.

How important is it to feel in your body?

I have done a lot of EFT.  When I have used it, it has made life more bearable for me and reduced most of my anxiety problems.  I have a lot of emotions but I never feel anything much in my body.  When I have tapped I can bring emotions up easily but nothing in my body.

It was suggested to me to try craniosacral therapy to get me into my body.  I had 3 sessions and I haven't felt right since.  It made my anxiety ten times worse and stimulated my sympathetic nervous system.  I tried using meditation and EFT to bring the anxiety down but that just made my anxiety worse.  I developed a racing heart, which I have never experienced and whenever I do EFT now, it doesn't work at all.  Shortly after I stopped to CST I left my job, which I held down for 2 1/2 years because of all this.

I am still willing to try and get into my body with some technique, but I have really lost trust in what can help me, without blowing my brains out!

How important is it to feel in your body, in conjuction with the success of EFT?

Re: How important is it to feel in your body?

In my opinion, Jacky, we all manifest  things and absorb things in different ways.  I am sorry you had such an unpleasant reaction to craniosacral therapy. I have always found it very relaxing, myself.  I don't think we necessarily need to 'feel things in our body' for EFT to work.

I think this experience has involved some loss of confidence in the whole EFT experience.  I would start with some reversal statements as these are generally what is involved  when EFT stops working.

ET it's not safe for me or my body to move forward in my healing, I accept myself

ET I have lost confidence in my ability to use EFT, I accept myself.

ET I am worse off now than I was beforeI accept myself.

Even though my anxiety levels are out of control...

ET Craniosacral therapy was the wrong thing for me at this time...

ET I  wish I  could go back in time and undo what has been done, I accept myself.

    Hello Jacky

I agree with Mildred in that we do not need to 'feel' in the physical body in order for EFT to work for us. I just would like to point out that you know this already because you even mentioned that you've done alot of work with EFT and had some really great results. Unfortunately you've experienced another form of alternative healing that didn't fit right for you for whatever reason, doesn't even matter why, and now you are doubting and probably in a state of fear that anything at this point is going to make you feel worse than before attempting the process.

Mildred gave you some really great set ups to work with to help you get back on track with EFT and I'm sure once you go through them and get a few rounds under your belt, you will be feel much better again.

Let us know how things go.

    In Truth, Kathleen

P.S. Remember, some of us feel, some of us hear, some of us see so there is no pre-requisite to EFT working ... just doing it is enough :)

    Hi Jacky,

Just because I know that part of anxiety is being anxious about it, I'd like to add my voice to the great answers above.

Not at all - zilch - nada - zero!

    I hope this helps  :-)
