Surrogate tapping for my neighbor
Hi Everyone, I thought I might get this forum restarted by offering a surrogate tapping script that I have put together on behalf of an acquaintance who is caring for his dying wife: Even though I feel helpless about this situation, I accept myself. Even though my wife is in so much pain and I can do nothing about it, I accept myself. Even though when dogs suffer as much as she is we put them out of their misery, but we can't seem to treat our fellow human beings as humanely, I accept myself.
Even though her pain makes her a bit cranky and unpleasant and she doesn't even know how she sounds sometimes, I accept myself. Even though I feel sad and lonely and selfish for even worrying about what I'm going to do when she's gone, I accept myself. Even though I am trying to protect her from visitors because they exhaust her, I accept myself. Even though I take her to the hospital when she doesn't want to be there, I accept myself.

Re: Surrogate tapping for my neighbor
Hi Mildred
First off, thank you for this ... very nice phrasing and I can see how it could help many that are caring for elderly and/or ailing individuals.
As for my question, while reading this I was back and forth between this being for him, for her or for both of them so I wasn't able to completely grasp the term Surrogate Tappping. Can you describe for me your interpretation of what Surrogate Tapping is please?
Thank you, Kathleen

I am curious to how it worked for him. And update and the progression of the sessions would be fantastic. And if you want to look it up there is a real workable "grief process" that Steve Andreas and his wife Connie-rae have put in their book, "Heart of the Mind". And that process can be downloaded free on his site. Many a times using both the grief process (Gary Craig also studied NLP) along with his EFT is very helpful.

Re: Surrogate tapping for my neighbor
I mentally imagine that I am my neighbor and as I tap, I take on his point of view. When I would first start doing surrogate tapping, i would include the person's name in my surrogate phrasing, thus: Even though I, John Doe, have this problem, I accept myself. Even though I, John, feel a bit hurt by how cranky my dying wife gets with me at times, and then I feel guilty and selfish for my own feelings, I accept myself. Mildred

Re: Surrogate tapping for my neighbor
Mildred: I mentally imagine that I am my neighbor and as I tap, I take on his point of view. So you become him in your mind's eye...or you associate into him. I was co-trainer at a conference 12 years ago when this one trainer was "really dumping" on an attendee, so I assumed the attendee's posture, pretending I was inside his head, and then held my own "oh my god points" (frontal lobes, the forehead neurovasculars that bring blood to the 'thinking' brain). He immediately went from confusion into "knowing" and gave the trainer a very high level answer. So the feedback I require about a skill working, or not, was answered. Thank you.

Re: Surrogate tapping for my neighbor
Hi Everyone, I just wanted to update you on my neighbors situation. After a few sessions of EFT, the doctors were able to fix her so that she wasn't in as much pain. she was well enough to spend some time in the mountains with her son and she died a few weeks later. In my humble opinion, EFT made her final days more bearable. Her husband seems to be doing well. He is a bit lonely at times, but overall he is relieved that she is not suffering any more. Mildred

Re: Surrogate tapping for my neighbor
Hi Mildred,
I thought instead of starting a new thread on surrogate tapping, that it may best that I just drop in and add on this thread. And with that said, ok, where to I start? Oh boy, if I start with what I have in mind, this may just change the whole thread itself, so bad idea. I will begin with this, I been doing some surrogate work at the time that I knew a person should be asleep, thinking that they may be more of receptive mode. And on the second session of tapping, the adgenda was to tap on what was formest on her subsconscious mind. I did the tapping and called her and just let her know that I again tapped on her the following night. While tapping I got that much of it was on her playing a role on what issue I was blindly tapping on, I just say blindly ok? She it seemed that she had and in advertly invited what happened to her. She told me of dream she had in court room that she told the judge that you mean to just let him go, a man that lived close by that she looked up too, as how much he cared for his wife and children, versus the lack there of that of her dad. And at age 12, the whole year, she had no memory of that time frame. I am not going to spell things out any more to a nth degee, the picture been painted. So for the purpose of all that I have said is leading to the tapping of some one when they are asleep and on truama that may be very severe.
I cleary now see that I may had better use more discretions,sp, of what I may could had been tapping on, but also this too, and this question could be if it may be safer to surrogate upon a person that truama may be very severe? Versus it just better this be done in personal one on one safer envoirment? Frankly, this question is very new to me, and I not read of Gary or any other EFTer take on this matter. So again, the one basic question may be is or could it be safer, and just plain safe to tap on a person very severe trauma when they are asleep? Personally, my gut and more my immediate feelings is a "no". It is a "no" that I have no evidence to suggest that I am correct.
Sooooooooo, may be some of you read some other EFT cases that may related to this, or just your own expereince that may shed some light on what is best and safe on this matter? And this is one more throw in question? Do Gary or any of you in advance ask a client if they have a time frame that is blank to them? This not occured to me before, that answer to this one question, may surely suggest that that client may had a very severe trauma of some kind.

Re: Surrogate tapping for my neighbor
Hi All,
I may have posed question to matter that may sort of deman a black or white answer in a all gray area. I think that as to the right or if there is a right or wrong take on this, it may be that each case be different, in that one may best use their heart and intuition as how they may proceed in a situation that I posed in my above message. So it may fall on some matter of trusing one's heart, and the intergrity o one'sf desire to at what length to help others, and lastly trust what their intuition give them, and there may be more to add as what I just said? But I admit too, I said what I just said, knowing that it just may not be what is ultimate best and correct, but for now, I do trust what I said ok?

Re: Surrogate tapping for my neighbor
Hi Chris & All,
On the general disscussion board of this list, I started a thread on EFTing Vaccination, and for some months now I wrote to a few parents off list telling them how EFT may help them with their child, and what I suggested too them was that with their permission, I would do surrogate tapping on their child and if this help them some then I would tell them more of the hows and whys of the tapping work that I did, and also possible give them more a daily tapping program that may better allow their child to get better. I do have some qualms with my doing this as I have, but I feel that with some of the kind of EFT work that I do more than others, that I may better show them how EFT can help their child.
So far of my writing about 6 parents off list, no one wrote back to me, I think that if I had more a therapist title this may have invited at least a follow up response from one parent, and I understand some of the basic and natural concerns of those parents. Yes, be it many are using some kind of medication to help them with some of the kids that are very problematic and pose some daily risk to their parent.
May be it be better if a host of certified EFTers were to get on board and have or set up possible site that it be more plain surrogate tapping work be done of kids that have autuism. This may help many parents to take the reins and learn EFT that they may better be able to help their own child, and relly less on medications and some things that work too few of the times. Plus a sure good plug in that more so real and in person EFT work will do bettern than the surrogate work, and this may vary some with some kids as how their human behaviour is, not being still, follow no commands, may be the surrogate work can rein them in that more real EFT work can be done on them.
Years ago in healing list that I was the moderator, a group of us was able to help a young boy that had learning disabilities, and I recall his mom saying to us, how her son was now saying now he gets things. And this all was done by distant energy and healing work. Thus I think that EFT wise this same level of good help can be done for some kids. A few times, I had like case of mild brain fog, and being that state this give me some idea of how some may feel about their learning and life's state of being normal be like. Sure some kids have no idea of what any degree of being normal could be like.
